about

A piece recorded in 1996, discovered on an old reel of tape. Sound source is a Roland JX-3P, recorded into a Time Lag Accumulator arrangement using two Tandberg decks. Dedicated to Morton Subotnick and Terry Riley, who were great inspiration. Hint: there's a connection in the title to those two. This was taken directly from the original tape, and apart from fade ins/outs and level adjustment, no modification has been made to the sound (ok, to save a bit of time I actually dubbed it at twice the speed it appears here then slowed it down digitally, but I doubt any difference is significant).

Listening notes:

This should be played at normal listening volume or perhaps a little higher. It is not "ambient" music, but is probably best listened to while doing other things. A dedicated attention will be rewarded, I hope, but is not necessary. A good quality reproduction system is recommended, either with headphones or loudspeakers; this is certainly not for tiny computer speakers or laptops/tablets/phones!
The last few minutes gradually fade into a sub-sonic frequency which is unlikely to be heard near the end, but which I feel is essential to the piece.
