about

The original "theme" is from the fourth side of 5, a solo orchestral album by Tony Banks who was/is the keyboard player for Genesis. Music on the LP is only on the first three sides, with a series of raised blobs on the fourth side most of which are either legible as the number 5 in various scripts or portions thereof. I decided to try playing them to hear what sort of sounds they would produce. As expected, it was rather percussive but also had slight tonal and rhythmic variations determined by where on the disc the stylus was placed. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to see what would happen if I tried making modifications in order to extend what was there through the application of various effects available in most digital audio editing software. This is nowhere near the full extent of what can be done, so if you acquire a copy of this, please feel free to make of it what you will.
