about

One of the first loop pieces I made, back in June of 1980. The story is by D. M. Thomas and was published in "The New S. F." edited by Langdon Jones. I wanted to do a vocal piece, as I hadn't heard of it being done before, and was curious to hear what would happen. The length of each new input is exactly as it was laid out on the page. Using a cheap tape machine for the playback (all I had at the time) gave a pleasing distortion which prevents old iterations from interfering too much with new input.
